Brown didn't receive a qualifying offer or minimum tender from the Bears and has become an unrestricted free agent, per the league's official transaction log.
EDGE Analysis
Brown was exclusively a special-teams player in 2017 before injuries hit the Bears' tight end corps. Once finally given offensive responsibilities in Week 8, the 25-year-old went on to accrue 13 receptions for 129 yards on 20 targets. While he seemingly isn't an elite talent by any means, Brown should still garner interest on the open market, especially given relative youth.

Brown didn't see a target in the Week 17 loss to the Vikings and he finished the year with 13 receptions for 129 yards.
EDGE Analysis
Brown has caught a total of 35 passes in 35 professional games covering four seasons with the Bears and the Ravens. He'll be a restricted free agent, but with Adam Shaheen and Dion Sims slated to be the primary tight ends next season, he'll either continue to serve in a bit role with the Bears or look for a similar role elsewhere.

Brown caught three passes for 32 yards in Saturday's loss to the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
Brown was targeted four times, but he didn't seen a target until the Bears fell behind 20-3 early in the second half. With Adam Shaheen sitting this one out with a chest injury, Brown caught three passes for the first time this season. Although he's posted at least 20 yards in four of his last six games, his 32-yard effort in this contest represented his highest total of the season, and he's been a weak fantasy option.

Brown caught two passes for 9 yards in Sunday's 33-7 win over the Bengals.
EDGE Analysis
Brown caught both of his targets but found himself third in the pecking order at tight end behind Dion Sims and Adam Shaheen. He's yet to post more than 23 yards in any of the five games that he was targeted, and he provides fantasy owners with very little weekly production.

Brown caught one pass for 13 yards in Sunday's 15-14 loss to the 49ers.
EDGE Analysis
In a game that the Bears attempted only 15 passes, Brown was the team's leading tight end with 13 yards. Although he's caught passes in each of the last four games, he's yet to post more than 23 yards in any game this year, and is a weak fantasy option.

Brown caught two passes for 23 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Lions.
EDGE Analysis
With Dion Sims missing his second straight game with an illness, Brown's posted exactly 23 yards in each contest. With Adam Shaheen looking as if he's ready to begin taking on a larger role in the passing game, Brown isn't a recommended fantasy option in most leagues.

Brown caught two passes for 23 yards in Chicago's 23-16 loss to the Packers.
EDGE Analysis
With Zach Miller (knee) out for the year and Dion Sims missing this game due to illness, Brown was the Bears most-targeted tight end with three. Despite his involvement, he's little more than an outlet option for Mitch Trubisky and unless his role grows significantly, he's not a very useful fantasy option.

Brown caught two passes for six yards in Sunday's win over the Titans.
EDGE Analysis
Brown primarily played in the fourth quarter and caught a pair of short passes, though his second reception resulted in a first down. He's part of a crowded depth chart at tight end, but based on preseason usage, he appears to be ahead of Ben Braunecker for a roster spot, which could be for the final roster spot at the position.

Brown caught one pass on three targets for four yards Thursday against the Broncos.
EDGE Analysis
Brown was the fourth tight end on the Bears to see action in the game and he played with the second-stringers. He missed out on an opportunity to convert a first down, but he dropped a pass that hit him right in the hands. He's buried on the depth chart right now, and unless that situation changes, he won't likely be much of a fantasy factor to start the season.

With Zach Miller (foot) trying to prove himself to be a healthy and reliable option during training camp, Brown could compete for a role as the Bears receiving tight end, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brown had an audition for this role during the last six games of 2016 when Miller was sidelined with a foot injury. Despite his opportunity, Brown averaged just 20 yards per game, and he'd need to make a tremendous leap this year to profile as a significant contributor. In addition, should Brown move ahead of Miller on the depth chart, he'll still have to compete for targets with Dion Sims and Adam Shaheen. This situation won't have much clarity until training camp begins.
