Pending further additions to the backfield, that leaves Brooks in position to potentially compete with 2024 third-rounder MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring), who spent all of 2025 on IR, for the No. 2 role behind Jacobs.

With 2024 third-rounder MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) spending the entire season on injured reserve, Brooks stepped up as the Packers' third option out of the backfield behind Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson. Brooks split his snaps fairly evenly across offense and special teams but took on more offensive responsibilities in Weeks 12 and 18 (both times against the Vikings) when Jacobs was sidelined, with the former accumulating 19 carries for 82 yards and one catch for five yards over those two games. Brooks enters the offseason as a restricted free agent and could be tendered by the Packers.

The BYU product could serve as the Packers' No. 2 RB in the Week 17 matchup against the Ravens if Josh Jacobs (knee) is sidelined.

Wilson was targeted once and caught one pass for six yards in Sunday's 28-21 victory over the Bears.

Brooks got a season-high 29 snaps in Week 12 with starting running back Josh Jacobs unavailable, and he still logged 18 the following week with Jacobs back in action. However, he was on the field for only eight plays in Sunday's contest. Fellow reserve Emanuel Wilson received just as many, but he did get three touches compared to only the one for Brooks. Brooks should continue seeing a few snaps on passing downs, but Wilson remains the top option behind Jacobs, and both may fill only bit roles with the starter back at full speed.
