Callihan is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The left-handed hitter will hit the bench for the second time in the series while the Brewers face off against another lefty starter in Robert Gasser. Since blasting two home runs in a June 10 game against the Dodgers, Callihan has left the yard just once in his subsequent 24 contests, and he's slashing an underwhelming .231/.282/.354 during that stretch. He could soon find himself as the odd man out of the lineup against right-handed pitching after the Pirates completed a trade earlier in the weekend for another left-handed bat in Jacob Gonzalez, who may be in store for playing time at first base while Spencer Horwitz (hamstring) remains on the injured list.

Callihan is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
After starting in each of the last three games at three different positions, Callihan will give up his spot in the lineup Wednesday to designated hitter Marcell Ozuna. Callihan produced a 1.350 OPS in his first 10 games with Pittsburgh following his promotion from Triple-A Indianapolis in late May, but he's cooled down considerably since then, slashing .224/.278/.327 with a 35.2 percent strikeout rate over his subsequent 19 contests.

Callihan is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies.
EDGE Analysis
Callihan will head to the bench for the second time in the series while the Pirates make room in the lineup for Marcell Ozuna, who will serve as the club's designated hitter and No. 7 batter. After getting his time with Pittsburgh off to an excellent start upon being called up from Triple-A Indianapolis in late May, Callihan has cooled down considerably. Over his last 12 games, Callihan is slashing .143/.194/.321 with a 45.2 percent strikeout rate.

Callihan went 2-for-4 with a walk and a three-run homer Sunday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Callihan got the Pirates off to a fast offensive start with a three-run homer in the second inning. That marked his first long ball since June 10, spanning a 14-game stretch during which he had hit .211 with three RBI and four runs scored. Despite the strong showing Sunday, Callihan could be on the outside looking in for playing time due to the return of Konnor Griffin and the emergence of Esmerlyn Valdez.

Callihan is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
The left-handed-swinging Callihan has been seeing regular reps in the outfield versus righty hurlers, but he'll begin this one on the bench as the Mariners send George Kirby to the bump. Marcell Ozuna is getting a start at designated hitter while Ryan O'Hearn plays right field.

Callihan will start in right field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
The left-handed-hitting Callihan will stick in the lineup for the sixth time in eight games, with both of his absences during that stretch coming against left-handed pitchers. While Oneil Cruz (hand) is on the shelf, the Pirates should have a strong-side platoon role available in the outfield for Callihan so long as he continues to perform well. Callihan has been sizzling at the dish since his May 28 call-up from Triple-A Indianapolis, going 7-for-20 (.350 average) with five extra-base hits, a stolen base and a 6:6 BB:K over 10 games.

Callihan went 2-for-2 with two home runs, four RBI, three runs scored and two walks in Wednesday's 9-8 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Callihan was instrumental in Pittsburgh's comeback Wednesday, blasting a three-run jack in the eighth inning to put the Pirates ahead 7-6. He also launched a solo homer off Shohei Ohtani earlier. Callihan has gone 4-for-12 with four extra-base hits, six RBI, five walks and a stolen base in the major leagues this year, and Wednesday's heroics should bolster his case for more playing time.

Callihan went 1-for-2 with a walk, a double and an RBI on Thursday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Callihan was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday but wasn't in the starting lineup. He entered the game in the fourth inning after Nick Gonzales exited with a knee injury, and Callihan went on to deliver an RBI double in the sixth inning. That marked his first hit as a Pirate, and he could pick up extra playing time if Gonzales is sidelined for an extended period.

The Pirates recalled Callihan from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Callihan has spent the entire season at Indianapolis up to this point, slashing .223/.305/.346 with five home runs, 16 RBI, 30 runs scored and eight steals through 49 games. Although he hasn't been a very efficient producer at the plate, he'll give the Pirates value as a defender capable of covering all three bases as well as the corner outfield positions. Esmerlyn Valdez was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
