The Cubs transferred Hodge (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Friday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hodge will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery Tuesday, so the Cubs will stash him away on the 60-day IL and give his 40-man roster spot to Nicky Lopez.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed Tuesday that Hodge (elbow) underwent UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though Hodge didn't require a traditional Tommy John surgery to address the right elbow flexor strain he sustained in spring training, Counsell estimated that the 25-year-old will face an expected recovery timeline of 12-to-14 months. With that in mind, Hodge would seem likely to open the 2027 season on the Cubs' injured list, if Chicago elects to tender him a contract over the winter. Hodge showed plenty of promise in his 2024 rookie campaign with a 1.88 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 43 innings, but he fell off badly in 2025 (6.27 ERA, 1.58 WHIP in 33 frames) and finished the season in the minors before going down with the elbow injury in the spring.

Hodge is slated to undergo UCL surgery on his right elbow and will miss the rest of the 2026 season, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hodge opened the season on the 15-day IL due to a right flexor strain that he sustained during spring training. Initially, there was hope he would be able to play catch by the beginning of April, but it appears Hodge's injury is severe enough for him to go under the knife. Given the nature of the issue, it wouldn't be surprising to see Hodge miss the opening portion of the 2027 season.

The Cubs placed Hodge (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Hodge came down with a right flexor strain in early March. He is aiming to play catch around April 1, but he'll have been shut down nearly a month by that time, so the buildup will take a while.

The Cubs hope Hodge (elbow) is ready to play catch around April 1, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hodge was diagnosed with a right flexor strain in early March. Given that he will be shut down for nearly a month, at minimum, it's going to take a while for him to get built back up. Hodge posted a 6.27 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over his 36 appearances with the Cubs in 2025.

The Cubs announced Sunday that Hodge has been diagnosed with a right flexor tendon strain and will be shut down from throwing for two weeks before being re-evaluated, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The timing of the injury will remove Hodge from contention for a spot in the Cubs' Opening Day bullpen, as he'll instead be ticketed for the injured list. Hodge posted a 6.27 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over his 36 appearances with the Cubs in 2025 and didn't help his chances of breaking camp with the big club by yielding seven earned runs and issuing seven walks over two innings in the Cactus League before being diagnosed with the injury.

Hodge allowed two runs on a hit and four walks while retiring just a single batter via strikeout in Friday's Cactus League game against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
It was an alarming spring training debut for Hodge, who struggled last year after a promising 2024 rookie season. The righty saw his BB/9 jump from 4.0 two years ago to 4.9 last year, and he'll need to improve in that area if he wants to stick around as a high-leverage reliever for the Cubs. Hodge has maintained good velocity in both of his professional campaigns and has a career 10.9 K/9, so the talent is there if he can refine his control.

Hodge was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
This is Hodge's second demotion to Triple-A this season. He gave up three earned runs, including two home runs, in one inning Friday in Cincinnati, and the Cubs will bring up a fresh arm (Jordan Wicks) to replace Hodge in the bullpen.

Hodge (2-2) allowed three runs on three hits across an inning of relief to take the loss Friday against the Reds. He walked one and struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Hodge worked the sixth inning after starter Shota Imanaga allowed three earned runs across five innings, and the former matched that in his lone frame. The righty reliever served up home runs to Spencer Steer and Elly De La Cruz as he saw his ERA climb to 6.27. With the Cubs headed toward the postseason, Hodge has done very little this year to earn a spot in the playoff bullpen.

Hodge allowed a hit and two walks while retiring two batters in the ninth inning of Monday's win over the Pirates before getting lifted for Brad Keller, who recorded the final out of the game.
EDGE Analysis
Hodge got the ninth inning staked to a 4-0 lead, so it wasn't a save opportunity, but he quickly made trouble for himself by loading the bases. The Cubs then turned to Keller for the final out, and he managed to earn his second save of the season by cleaning up Hodge's mess. Hodge continues to struggle with a 5.81 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 31 innings this year, and Monday's poor effort won't help the righty earn any more high-leverage work in Chicago's bullpen.
