The Yankees sent INF Max Schuemann outright to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
EDGE Analysis
Schuemann passed through waivers unclaimed after he was designated for assignment. He'll remain in the Yankees organization.

Schuemann will start in left field and bat seventh in Thursday's game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old has been up with the Yankees since April 28 following his call-up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but it wasn't until May 7 that he made his first start. Though Schuemann continued to see scarce opportunities over his first two months with the big club, he's finally begun gaining some traction in the outfield in July while the Yankees navigate the absences of Aaron Judge (rib) and Giancarlo Stanton (calf). Schuemann will stick in the starting nine for the fifth time in six games after going 3-for-9 with a home run and two walks through his first four contests of the month.

Schuemann went 2-for-2 with two walks and a two-run home run in Saturday's 11-4 loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Getting the start in center field while Trent Grisham got a partial day off as the DH in his second game back from the IL, Schuemann took Zebby Matthews (foot) deep in the fifth inning, but it proved to be a drop in the bucket against a six-homer onslaught by Minnesota hitters. The 29-year-old utility player has two homers on the season, with both of them coming in his last four games, and through 39 plate appearances in the majors this season he's slashing .231/.423/.487 with two steals, six RBI and nine runs while seeing action at every position except catcher and first base.

Schuemann went 1-for-3 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 13-8 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
With left-hander Jacob Lopez starting for the Athletics, Schuemann drew the start at second base before shifting to right field. The 28-year-old contributed to the Yankees' 13-run third inning, roping a two-RBI double to the left-field wall. While the utility man hasn't seen much action in the majors, he has been productive when called upon in 2026, slashing .294/.500/.471 with three doubles, three RBI, seven runs and two stolen bases across 24 plate appearances.

Schuemann went 1-for-2 with two walks, a run and two stolen bases in a 7-6 win over Toronto on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Schuemann got the start at third base before shifting over to left field late in the game. He made the most of the opportunity, reaching three times and swiping his first two bags of the campaign. Schuemann ranks in the 64th percentile in sprint speed leaguewide, but he had been 0-for-2 in theft attempts coming into Monday. He holds a fine .286/.474/.429 slash line across 19 plate appearances on the campaign but isn't much of a fantasy asset since he plays so sparingly -- Monday marked just his second start over New York's past six contests.

Schuemann went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout, was caught stealing twice and committed an error in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
While Anthony Volpe was called up earlier in the day to replace Jose Caballero (finger) on the roster, it was Schuemann who got the nod at shortstop and batted eighth for the Yankees. Manager Aaron Boone has already indicated Caballero won't lose his starting job while on the IL, which could be a suggestion that Volpe won't see an everyday assignment in his return to the majors, but Schuemann didn't exactly put his best foot forward when given a chance. Since his own promotion in late April, Schuemann has gone 3-for-11 with two doubles and a 2:3 BB:K.

The Yankees recalled Schuemann from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Schuemann sports a .203/.362/.297 batting line with one home run, six stolen bases and a 16:16 BB:K in 23 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. He could be sent back down later this week if Anthony Volpe (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday during an appearance on Jomboy Media's "Talkin' Yanks" podcast that Schuemann will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take the roster spot of the injured Giancarlo Stanton (calf).
EDGE Analysis
Schuemann has slashed .203/.362/.297 with one home run, six stolen bases and a 16:16 BB:K in 23 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. The utility player could be around for only a few days, as Anthony Volpe (shoulder) has a good chance to be activated from the injured list later this week.

The Yankees optioned Schuemann to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees acquired Schuemann in a trade with the Athletics in February, and the 28-year-old will officially begin his time with the organization at Triple-A. He slashed .321/.486/.429 with an RBI, six runs scored and two steals over 14 Grapefruit League games but owns just a .603 OPS across his MLB career and isn't likely to make a significant impact in the Bronx this season.

The Yankees acquired Schuemann from the Athletics in exchange for minor-league RHP Luis Burgos on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Schuemann was designated for assignment by the Athletics last week and will now head to New York to compete for a reserve infielder job this spring. Schuemann has slashed .212/.306/.297 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, 75 runs scored, 21 stolen bases and a 69:154 BB:K across 672 big-league plate appearances since making his MLB debut in 2024.
