Ha-Seong Kim (finger) will have his rehab assignment moved up to Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Kim has been playing in rehab games with the FCL Braves this week, and will have his assignment transferred up to Gwinnett beginning Friday. Kim struggled mightily at the plate for the Braves before being placed back on the IL at the start of July.

Ha-Seong Kim (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with the FCL Braves on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
It's been a rough year for Kim. He didn't make his season debut until May 12. When he did finally get going, the 30-year-old shortstop struggled mightily at the plate, managing only five hits and nine walks over 82 plate appearances before being placed back on the IL at the end of June. Kim will pick things back up on Monday in Florida, hoping to reset for after the All-Star break.

Atlanta announced Monday that Kim (finger) will begin a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Florida Complex League.
EDGE Analysis
Kim landed on the 10-day injured list July 4 after experiencing inflammation in his surgically repaired right middle finger, but he doesn't look like he'll be in store for a lengthy shutdown. He'll likely play at least a couple games in the FCL early this week before Atlanta decides whether to activate him ahead of its next game Friday versus the Rangers or have him continue his rehab assignment with a higher-level affiliate. After returning from a season-opening stint on the shelf and debuting for Atlanta on May 12, Kim produced a lowly .068/.171/.068 slash line over 82 plate appearances before landing back on the shelf. He'll likely have to settle for a reserve role in the middle infield once he's reinstated.

Atlanta placed Kim on the 10-day injured list Saturday, retroactive to Wednesday, due to right middle finger inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
Kim has gone 0-for-24 with four walks and eight strikeouts over his last 13 games and has not recorded a hit since June 3 against the Blue Jays. The 30-year-old infielder is eligible to return from the IL prior to the All-Star break, though it's unclear whether he'll need a longer stint on the shelf. Kyle Farmer (forearm) was reinstated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move.

Kim is not in the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
After handing Kim four straight starts, Atlanta has now had him on the bench for three consecutive contests. Jim Jarvis was promoted earlier Thursday and will draw the start at shortstop in the series finale.

Kim is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Kim had started in Atlanta's last four games, but he went 0-for-11 over that stretch to bring his average down to a lowly .068 for the season. Atlanta has an opening in the everyday lineup for Kim while Mauricio Dubon is needed in the outfield to help cover for the absence of Ronald Acuna (hamstring), but Kim's inability to get going at the plate has made it increasingly difficult for manager Walt Weiss to justify keeping him in the starting nine. Jorge Mateo will spell Kim at shortstop Tuesday.

Kim went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Friday's win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Making his second straight start at shortstop while batting ninth in the order, Kim saw his hitless streak extend to 25 plate appearances -- his last base knock was a single back on June 3. His struggles, both at the plate and in the field, since returning from finger surgery in mid-May have cost him his starting job at shortstop and allowed Jorge Mateo to get consistent playing time, but Atlanta hasn't completely given up on Kim. If he doesn't turn things around soon, however, the team could have a tough decision to make about his future once Ronald Acuna (hamstring) returns from the IL in July and frees Mauricio Dubon up for regular shortstop duty again. Over 76 PAs in 2026, Kim is slashing a woeful .072/.158/.072 with a career-worst 26.3 percent strikeout rate.

Kim has used his time out of the starting lineup to working on his approach at the plate in batting cages, Jesus Cano of The Athletic reports. "It's just so difficult when you don't have a spring training and when you've missed a lot of time for consecutive years," Atlanta manager Walt Weiss said Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Kim played only 48 games in 2025 and underwent surgery in January on a torn finger tendon on his right hand, and in 50 plate appearances since coming off the IL in mid-May he's slashing just .089/.180/.089. Jorge Mateo is handling starting duties at shortstop for now, but Atlanta is being patient with Kim given his layoff and the fact that he didn't have a spring training. Expect the 30-year-old to make a push to regain the starting job once he's had a chance to fully shake off his rust.

Kim isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Kim will grab a seat on the bench for a third consecutive game after going just 4-for-42 (.095) in 12 games since his return from the injured list. Jorge Mateo will start at shortstop for the third game in a row, and he could continue to get extra playing time while Atlanta waits for Kim to get on track after making his season debut a few weeks ago.
