He added another single while also drawing a walk as the Jays' top offensive player in a 7-1 loss to their division rival. Springer is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Springer started the past three games after missing six contests while on the paternity and family medical emergency list, but he'll take a seat Sunday for the final matchup before the All-Star break. Barring an appearance off the bench, the veteran slugger will finish the first half with a disappointing .218/.303/.374 slash line, nine home runs and six steals in 66 games.

Springer went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 rout of the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Back in the lineup for the first time since June 30, Springer went back-to-back with Vladimir Guerrero in the ninth inning off Ryan Walker to put an exclamation point on the Blue Jays' offensive outburst. Springer picked up right where he left off prior to away from the team due to the birth of his child -- over his last 14 games in June, he'd slashed .281/.333/.439 with two homers, three steals, five RBI and eight runs.

Springer will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup in Wednesday's game against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Toronto reinstated Springer from the family medical emergency list Monday, but he was held out of the lineup for the club's first two games of its series in San Francisco. Springer will return to the lineup for the finale in what will be his first start since June 30, and he'll bat somewhere other than the leadoff spot for the first time all season while manager John Schneider sticks with Ernie Clement atop the batting order for the third straight contest. The arrangement won't necessarily be a permanent one, but slotting behind Vladimir Guerrero in the order could prove beneficial for Springer, who has struggled to a .221/.308/.373 batting line over 276 plate appearances on the season.

The Blue Jays reinstated Springer (personal) from the family emergency medical list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Springer is now eligible to return to the lineup for Toronto, but that will have to wait for at least one more day while Sean Keys serves as the designated hitter and bats fifth in Monday's series opener. Springer had gone 16-for-61 (.262) with three steals, two home runs, five RBI and a triple in his 15 games prior to his absence. The move corresponds with the Blue Jays placing Braydon Fisher on the bereavement list.
