Rawls and Eddie Lacy rotated series with the starters at Monday's mock game, ESPN.com's Sheil Kapadia reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Seahawks may be easing Lacy in as he returns from major ankle surgery, but Rawls is at least getting a shot to push for a significant chunk of the workload, if not the starting job. Given that Lacy and C.J. Prosise both have sketchy injury histories, it isn't hard to imagine Rawls working in a lead role at some point this season, regardless of where he stands in the Week 1 pecking order. The Seattle backfield will require close monitoring throughout the preseason, starting with Sunday's opener in Los Angeles.

Rawls is expected to receive a decent workload during the preseason, and should see a comparable amount of carries to Eddie Lacy (ankle) during the regular season, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rawls is coming off an injury-plagued first two seasons in the league, as he's missed 10 of 32 possible games in his career thus far. Although Rawls dealt with leg and shoulder problems last year, he approaches training camp with a clean bill of health. That should allow him to see a fair chunk of exhibition action, but the Seahawks are also expected to be careful in order to preserve him for the regular season. At that point, Rawls and Lacy figure to share the bulk of Seattle's ball-carrying duties, unless one player gets the hot hand and garners an increased workload. With C.J. Prosise around as well, Rawls certainly faces competition for touches, but he'll be keen to capitalize on his opportunities now that he's healthy again.

Rawls will have to compete for work in a backfield that includes C.J. Prosise (shoulder) and recent free-agent signing Eddie Lacy (ankle), The Seattle Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rawls looks like the odd man out at first glance, as Lacy signed a one-year, $5.5 million contract with $3 million guaranteed, while Prosise offers an element of pass-catching and quickness that the other two running backs can't match. However, Prosise and Lacy were limited to just 11 combined games last season while battling injuries, with the latter also carrying major concerns regarding his weight. The addition of Lacy is undoubtedly discouraging for Rawls' 2017 prospects, but it's far from a death blow.

Rawls will compete with C.J. Prosise for touches next season, coach Pete Carroll said Thursday, according to the Seattle Times.
EDGE Analysis
The most important thing for both backs is to stay healthy, something neither has proven capable of. No matter who starts, the Seahawks will use both, if healthy, as a 1-2 punch in the backfield.

Rawls gained 34 yards on 11 rushes in Saturday's 36-20 divisional-round loss to the Falcons.
EDGE Analysis
Like many of his teammates, Rawls started the game off hot, ripping off gains of nine and seven yards on his first two carries, and amassing 29 yards on six carries overall during the 12-play opening drive. However, he gained just five yards on his remaining five rushes, as the Seahawks were forced to essentially abandon the run after falling behind by double digits. Russell Wilson actually took over as the most productive runner on the team, gaining 49 yards overall. Rawls wraps up an injury-shortened sophomore campaign with just 349 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, along with a 3.2 yards per carry figure that paled in comparison to the 5.6 he managed in his standout rookie season.

Rawls rushed for 161 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries in Saturday's 26-6 wild-card victory over the Lions. He also secured one of two targets for one yard.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Pete Carroll had vowed to get Rawls involved early and often Saturday, and the run-heavy approach certainly paid handsome dividends. Both Rawls' overall rushing total and his first-half yardage set new franchise records, and his four-yard touchdown run with 8:49 remaining essentially sealed the victory by giving the Seahawks a 19-6 edge at the time. The second-year tailback looked healthier and more decisive than he had throughout an injury-marred regular season, and the Seattle offensive line also performed several notches above their typical level of play, blowing open sizable running lanes on multiple occasions. While Saturday's performance was considerably rewarding for those who rostered Rawls in DFS contests and playoff formats, Rawls now faces the task of producing similar results in what will be a raucous Georgia Dome during next Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the Falcons.

Head coach Pete Carroll said this week that he wants to use Rawls heavily during Saturday's wild-card game against the Lions, Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com reports. "I hope, like I said last week -- I want him to get the ball 20 times this week," Carroll said. "We'll see what happens, we'll see how the game goes."
EDGE Analysis
Game flow will be one of the determining factors for Rawls' workload in the Seahawks' playoff opener, but the game plan may also be engineered to take advantage of one of the Lions' weaknesses. In particular, Detroit's defense ranked 18th against the run this season, a component that includes 4.4 yards allowed per rush. Since Rawls returned from a fractured fibula in Week 11, he's reached the 20-carry threshold just once in seven contests. Granted, a shoulder concern slowed him down in the final two games of the regular season, containing him to eight runs on both occasions. If Carroll has indeed given offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell an ultimatum to focus on the rushing attack, Rawls will at least have plenty of opportunity to hearken back to his breakout rookie campaign.

Rawls rushed for 14 yards and a touchdown on eight carries in Sunday's win over San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
Rawls gave Seattle the lead late in the first half with a one-yard touchdown plunge, his first touchdown since Week 13. Rawls has failed to live up to the promise of his rookie season during his sophomore campaign, battling through injury and the abbreviated emergence of rookie C.J. Prosise. He enters the playoffs as the Seahawks' top back, however, though rookie Alex Collins has stepped up in recent weeks - particularly as a receiver. His value next week will be tied to Seattle's opponent - Green Bay entering Week 17 with a top-10 rush defense while Detroit's falls in the middle of the road.

Rawls (shoulder) practiced in a full capacity Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rawls was knocked from Saturday's loss to the Cardinals due to a shoulder injury, but after an MRI on Monday, his activity level Wednesday implies its lack of severity. As evidence, head coach Pete Carroll told Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio KJR that Rawls' shoulder concern is "very slight," and he should be good to go for Week 17 preparation. On Sunday, Rawls will look to exploit a 49ers defense that is far away the worst in the NFL against the run, allowing league worsts in yards per game (150.1) and touchdowns (23) to running backs.

Rawls will have an MRI on his shoulder Monday, Liz Mathews of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Head coach Pete Carroll told John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site that Rawls "thought he was OK" during a conversation earlier Monday. Once the examination is complete, the team will have a better indication of Rawls' upcoming availability, but interested parties may have to wait until practice is held Wednesday to learn the state of his health.
