Jaguars signed seventh-round RB Storm Johnson to a four-year contract.
Johnson slipped to pick No. 222 overall after average workout numbers and ball security concerns. He fumbled eight times in two seasons at UCF and needs to work on his pass protection. The Jaguars' backfield isn't insanely talented, so Johnson could easily play an offensive role behind Toby Gerhart in year one.

Jaguars OC Jedd Fisch referred to seventh-rounder Storm Johnson as "a great value pick for us."
Fisch said he "didn't know the explanation" for why Johnson slipped to round seven, but did acknowledge the UCF product "needs to work on his ball security" after fumbling eight times in two college seasons. Johnson also must get better in pass protection. When OTAs begin, Johnson will compete with Jordan Todman and Denard Robinson behind new Jaguars feature back Toby Gerhart.

Jaguars selected UCF RB Storm Johnson with the No. 222 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft.
Johnson (6-foot, 209) signed with Miami as a four-star recruit but wound up at UCF, where he spent two seasons. He finished college with 1,765 yards and 19 touchdowns on 335 carries (5.27 YPC), adding 41 receptions. Johnson's Combine measurables were average (4.60 forty, 35 1/2" vertical, 9-foot-10 broad jump), but his vision, feet and aggressive running style stand out on tape. Johnson has tight hips, fumbled eight times in college and has a long way to go in pass protection, but it's not out of the question that he'll become a contributor.
