Rodriguez started at point guard and finished with 12 points (5-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), nine assists and four rebounds in 32 minutes Wednesday against the Thunder.
EDGE Analysis
While Rodriguez was ultimately outdueled by Russell Westbrook, it was nonetheless an encouraging debut for the Spaniard. A pass-first point guard, Rodriguez should be a reliable source of assists as long as he remains the starter. Nothing is set in stone with this Sixers team, but that will likely be the case going forward, at least until Jerryd Bayless (wrist) returns healthy. Once Ben Simmons (foot) is cleared to play -- likely sometime in January -- he also figures to factor into the point guard rotation.

Rodriguez is officially in the starting lineup for Wednesday's season opener against the Thunder, Derek Bodner of the Philadelphia Magazine reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Jerryd Bayless (wrist) sitting out for at least the first month of the season, Rodriguez and T.J. McConnell went back and forth as the projected stater at point guard throughout the preseason schedule. However, coach Brett Brown has opted to go with Rodriguez Wednesday, although the two guards will both likely see similar minutes in a timeshare. With that said, it would be surprising to see Rodriguez or McConnell log more than minutes in the mid-20's.

Rodriguez is viewed as the 76ers' likely starter at point guard for Wednesday's season opener against the Thunder, Tom Moore of the Bucks County Courier Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was initially believed that T.J. McConnell would get the first crack at replacing Jerryd Bayless (wrist) in the starting five for the season opener, but since Rodriguez received the start in the 76ers' preseason finale, he now looks like the leading candidate for those duties. Regardless of which player he tabs for the start, coach Brett Brown is expected to distribute the minutes relatively evenly between the two point guards in the opener, and could end up rotating both Rodriguez and McConnell in and out of the lineup during Bayless' absence.

Rodriguez started at point guard in Friday's 113-110 preseason win over the Heat, producing 13 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four assists and three rebounds across 26 minutes.
EDGE Analysis
Sixers coach Brett Brown gave both Rodriguez and T.J. McConnell turns with the top unit in both halves, so it seems as though an Opening Night starter still hasn't been determined. Rodriguez outperformed McConnell in the preseason finale, but McConnell's superior defense and sound passing may ultimately prove to be the difference in the job battle. No matter who emerges as the starter, both figure to see a roughly even split of all the minutes at point guard with Jerryd Bayless (wrist) expected to miss most of the first month of the season, if not longer.

Rodriguez will start at point guard in Friday's preseason finale against the Heat, Brian Seltzer of Sixers.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Rodriguez is getting the start Friday, the expectation for the past week has been that T.J. McConnell will start at point guard in the regular season for as long as Jerry Bayless (wrist) is out. It's likely head coach Brett Brown is giving Rodriguez the start so that he can get some extended run with the team at the point guard position in preparation for the regular season, but until reported otherwise, McConnell is likely the team's starter in Bayless' absence.

T.J. McConnell is expected to start over Rodriguez at point guard if Jerryd Bayless (wrist) is sidelined to open the regular season, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bayless has missed all four of the 76ers' preseason games to date, with McConnell garnering the starts in all of those contests. Though coach Brett Brown previously indicated when Bayless was healthy that both McConnell and Rodriguez would battle for the top backup role, it appears McConnell's superior defense will earn him the edge over the Spanish import. Rodriguez, who is averaging 7.0 points, 5.2 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 21.9 minutes per game during the preseason, should still see a good deal of court time with the second unit so long as Bayless is sidelined, but he may drop out of the rotation when the backcourt is at full health.

Rodriguez recorded 15 points (5-14 FG, 3-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), eight assists, two rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes during Saturday's 108-105 preseason loss to the Cavaliers.
EDGE Analysis
T.J. McConnell has replaced Jerryd Bayless (wrist) in the starting lineup at point guard for all three of the 76ers' preseason games, but Saturday marked the first time that he was outplayed by Rodriguez, his primary competition for the top backup role behind Bayless. With Bayless' injury lingering longer than expected and potentially sidelining him for the start of the regular season, both McConnell and Rodriguez could see more run early on in the campaign. While that may be an optimal setup for the 76ers, that's probably less true for fantasy owners, as neither point guard would have a great chance at hitting 30-plus minutes per night while they share the position.

Sixers coach Brett Brown said Tuesday that Rodriguez and T.J. McConnell are in a "fist fight" for the top backup spot at point guard, Brian Seltzer of Sixers.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Sixers bolstered their point guard ranks this offseason by signing Jerryd Bayless to a three-year deal and bringing in Rodriguez on a one-year contract following a six-year stint with Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid. While Bayless is slated to open the season in a starting role for the 76ers, Rodriguez has impressed the team early in camp with his high basketball IQ and ability to run the offense, vaulting himself into the conversation for the top backup duties. By virtue of his strong play as a rookie, McConnell will likely enter preseason play as the top candidate to claim No. 2 point guard duties, but Rodriguez could surpass him on the depth chart if his performances shine brighter during the upcoming contests. With Bayless likely sitting out Tuesday's exhibition against the Celtics with a wrist injury, both Rodriguez and McConnell should have ample opportunity to put their abilities on full display.

Sergio Rodriguez has been voted as the bwin Euroleague MVP.
Rodriguez was voted MVP by a combined fan and journalist vote even though he came off the bench in each of Madrid's Euroleague contest. He averaged 13.5 points and 5.0 assists per game and ranked third in the league with a 48.8 percent three-point percentage. Rodriguez has found a comfort level in Europe after struggling with three different NBA teams and would seem unlikely to return to the NBA.
