Perez took home a win Saturday, throwing 6.0 innings and allowing four runs with five strikeouts and two walks. Those four runs were the first Perez had allowed since June 5, with his ERA now standing at 2.78 after a previous low of 2.29. Saturday's performance wasn't ideal, but he got bailed out by weak performances from Noah Syndergaard and the Mets bullpen.

The Braves still plan on using Perez for Monday's scheduled start against the Red Sox, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The FAN reports. With Saturday's game running 11 innings, the Braves were short on relievers and called upon Perez to close out the Mets. He ended up allowing two hits, but kept the home team off the board to record his first career save. Perez didn't labor too much through the outing, so a day off Sunday should be all he needs to be ready to go for Monday's turn.

Perez was pressed into relief duty on Saturday, giving up two hits in a scoreless 11th inning to notch his first major league save. He had been scheduled to start on Monday in Boston but that could now be up in the air, although he wasn't really taxed and needed only nine pitches to preserve the win. Perez has been remarkably effective since joining the Braves rotation, and Saturday's relief appearance seems more like an emergency call by Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez than a change in his role.

Perez (2-0) struck out four, walked two, and allowed only four hits in seven innings against the Padres on Wednesday. The only run he allowed was unearned. Making his fifth start of his major league career, Perez matched his longest outing with seven innings. The rookie has allowed no more than one earned run in four of his five starts, and he has a 2.78 ERA in seven games, including a 1.80 mark in five starts. The rookie will take the mound again Monday at Boston.

Perez struck out five and walked five while giving up four runs on four hits over five innings in Friday's loss to Pittsburgh. He did not factor in the decision. Working with a three-pitch mix that includes a sinker, curveball, and changeup, Perez has turned a dreadful 5.5% swinging-strike rate into a 8.5 K/9 through six appearances (four starts) for Atlanta. It should be noted that Matt Wisler has pitched very well at Triple-A for the Braves this season, offering a replacement within the organization capable of serving as an upgrade if the Braves decide that Perez is better suited as a depth option, or as a potential solution for the team's struggling bullpen. As it currently stands, his next start is scheduled for Wednesday against the Padres at Turner Field.

Perez (1-0) tossed seven shutout innings against the Giants for his first career win Saturday, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out three. Not the most impressive balance of strikeouts and walks, but the sinkerballing Perez has posted solid results since joining the Atlanta rotation. He's given up just two runs in 18 innings as a starter while striking out 17 and walking six. The 24-year-old's minor-league stats are a bit of a mixed bag, which combined with his un-electric stuff suggests that he's at best a No. 3 or 4 starter rather than an ace in the making. Still, there's value in that.

Perez allowed one run on seven hits over six innings against the Dodgers on Monday, walking one while striking out seven, and did not factor into the decision in the Braves' 6-3 loss. Perez was shaky early on, loading the bases twice in the first three innings, but he went on to allow one hit over his final three frames. The right-hander struck out the side in the fourth and has now recorded seven strikeouts in back-to-back outings, though his swinging-strike rate sits at just 6.1 percent through four appearances (two starts). Regardless, it looks like Perez will get an extended audition in a starting role for Atlanta.

Perez gave up one run on six hits and a walk over five innings and had seven strikeouts against the Rays in his first major league start Wednesday. Perez didn't get the win, but he pitched a terrific game. To start the season, Perez was a starter for Triple-A Gwinnett before joining the Braves bullpen on May 8. He made two appearances, but with Eric Stults struggling, Perez was given the start against the Rays, and the right-hander responded. Despite giving up singles to the second and third batters he faced, he settled down and retired nine in a row. In the fourth and fifth innings, he encountered trouble, but managed to escape without giving up a run. Perez will give it another go Monday against the Dodgers.

Perez will start for the Braves on Wednesday against the Rays. Perez will take the rotation spot of Eric Stults, who has struggled mightily in three May starts. Perez hasn't fared much better in two relief appearances with the Braves so far, allowing four earned runs over 2.1 innings. He was solid for Triple-A Gwinnett, however, posting a 1.33 ERA over his first five starts. The right-hander should have an opportunity to pitch his way into a more secure rotation spot.
